Hello, my name is Michael and I am starting this blog. This is my first post, so it might suck. Bear with me. I’ve been thinking of starting this blog for some time, and could never make up my mind. I kept thinking I needed some specific topic or focus for my blog. But, I could never settle on one topic. (I’m sure some will quit reading right there)
Should I write about politics? There is a shortage of political blogs on the internet, and a shortage of sarcasm. I definitely find interest in politics and have more than my share of opinions on the subject. But, you know I’m not really your typical politics blogger. I don’t eat, sleep, and breathe politics. If I did, I would probably just be pissed off all the time. Moreover, I’m not an elitist, too-smart-for-my-shirt, debate-with-every-soul-I-meet-in-the-grocery-store type of person either. The fact is I don’t really like to argue with people. And, I’m not really that smart, either.
So, this will not be a political-focused blog. However, I will let my political views leak out every once in a while. And, I will actually write the occasional politics blog. Every once in awhile I get pissed enough to get on a soap box. But, don’t try to figure out what my political leanings are, because as soon as you put a label on me, I will turn completely around on the next topic.
By day, I am a mild mannered project manager at a software company. At night, I don tights and a cape and roam the streets looking for stranded motorists who need a lift. Oh, I don’t take them anywhere. I just try to cheer them up while they’re waiting for a tow truck. Anyway, so I work at a software company. Should I write a blog about software or project management? Again, kind of saturated. I do like techie stuff though, so I may post the occasional techie blog, or at least link to some other cool articles and posts.
I also like poetry and art in general. And, I have written some poems and will definitely write more. I’m sure you can see a theme here by now. This will not be a poetry blog, either.
Basically, I like things that are technical, scientific, or artistic. If you mash up all three then I usually dig that the most. This blog will be the integration portal to my conscious. An online repository of my curiosities, impulses, interests, writings, poetry, and photos. I will link stuff, and I will write stuff. I’m a typical Gemini, so as soon as you sense some sort of theme forming, change will be afoot. I may delve into some politics, some philosophy, and some stuff about monster trucks. One thing is certain, this blog will constantly change. It will be dynamic. I’m doing this mostly for myself. But hopefully someone out there will find something interesting here once in a while. That would be cool.
Please feel free to comment below. Say hi, ask a question, let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to know or for me to write about. As you can tell, I’m pretty open.

Hey Mike…I still cannot believe googlymoogly.com was available. Just wanted to let you know I’ll be stopping by every now and then to check your blogs. It looks to be one of the few that may have some interest. Good luck and check ya later
Hey, thanks a lot, Jon! I know, right. I know yahoo buys domains once in awhile, maybe they’ll offer me some money for it. I’ll sell it in a heartbeat and call this blog something else, LOL.
Thanks for checkin it out. I’m going to try to set up a feed so it automatically updates my FB status when I post something.
Good luck with this, brother. I’m looking forward to what you’ll do. Use those words, man, use those words. (And take some pics of those stranded motorists you cheer up.)
Hey thanks! I will. I may post some poetry soon.
Hey Mike. Just curious…who/where did you get your website/domain name from? Free or pay? And what is the diff between web hosting and domain name? I’m interested in my own blog but want my own web address. Thanks
I actually got the domain name at godaddy.com. Wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it at the time. You have to pay for your domain name. But depending on the name, it’s pretty cheap. I got this one for around $10 for a year. GoDaddy.com has hosting also, but I liked WordPress.com. GoDaddy has free hosting but they’ll put an ugly banner ad across the top of your site. WordPress.com is free if you want to do a blog, the basic package is, which is what I’m using so far. There are some upgrades you can purchase. Which actually I did have to purchase an upgrade to get the domain name forwarded from Go Daddy to here, that was another $10 for a whole year. The free hosting with WordPress does not get you the domain name you want, it may be something like jon.wordpress.com instead of jon.com. But, you can purchase a domain name from WordPress for around the same price I did at GoDaddy. I just didn’t decide on WordPress til after I already got the domain name from GoDaddy.
