new movie from mike Judge!

Mike Judge, the creator of one of my favorite movies of all time, Office Space, has done it again. Extract is due out on September 4, 2009, in limited release. It has Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck, Kristen Wiig (the hilarious chick on SNL), and Mila Kunis (Jackie from That 70′s Show). Mila Kunis is getting hotter by the minute, by the way. You may also know Mike Judge as the creator of Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill.

Extract is another look at the American workplace, but Judge takes it blue collar this time. It’s about life at a flavor extract factory. You know, like vanilla. I guess someone has to do that, right. Anyway, so far it looks just as hilarious as Office Space, if not better. And it looks like he has a bigger budget this time around.

I first learned about this at kottke.org by the way. One of my favorite blogs.

ferris bueller: life coach

Good article about the “Tao of Ferris” from, possibly, the real Ferris Bueller. Although, I have to clarify, the real, “real,” Ferris did not grow up to marry Carrie Bradshaw, he married Patty Greene.

For one of those Chicago adventures, we secretly borrowed a car almost as ridiculously conspicuous as the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT in the movie: my dad’s purple Cadillac El Dorado (yes, purple). Put an extra 113 miles on the odometer. Hoping to erase that telltale mileage, we raised the back on a pair of jacks and ran the car in reverse. The Caddy did not fly backward into a ravine, as in the film. What it did do is quickly take off a clean 10,000 miles. Oops. (Yes, you bet he noticed.)

facebook: the movie?

Just read there is a facebook movie in the works. With Aaron Sorkin writing the screenplay!? To be honest, I actually would be pretty interested in it. Remember Pirates of Silicon Valley? I loved that movie!

I’m still finding it a little hard to believe that Aaron Sorkin (he of A Few Good Men, he of The West Wing) is writing the screenplay for the upcoming Facebook movie. But not only is he, but upon hearing the proposal (based on Ben Mezrich’s “The Accidental Billionaires”), Sorkin claims it’s the fastest he’s “ever said ‘yes’ to anything.”
